FAQ - Frequently asked questions

1. What is the Lunar Calendar and why do I need one?

The Lunar Calendar is designed to be used by colonists of the Moon, and it differs from the one we use here on Earth. Unless you live on the Moon, you don't really need one, but you can support the idea anyway. Who, knows? Perhaps you will live on the Moon in the future, or your children might. You can read the details on how this calendar works.

2. Are you guys for real?

3. So, this is another make-money-on-the-internet kind of scam?

No, we are a non-profit organization. We don't even have a button to click for donating money. But, we do appreciate suggestions, translations, and manpower (so feel free to join us). The clock script is of course free, so please go ahead and download it.

4. Is the Lunar Standard Time correct?

Time will tell! Pardon the pun, but it is a simple question that requires a very complicated answer. In short, yes, it is correct because we have chosen to define it in a certain way. This definition is based on the how the Sun lights the Moon. However, our universe is not static, everything moves and parameters change. In 50 years or so one may want to tweak the definition of the Lunar Standard Time. The ordinary lunar colonist will not take any notice, just like you and I don't take any notice when our own time reckoning gets tweaked every once in a while. That's it in short.

5. What is this inverted triangle thing?

The symbol ∇, an acient one, is ‘lunar’, the Feminine principle. The mathematical symbol nabla closely resembles this, and it's included in many fonts (so, if you see an inverted triangle in the clock, you have it).

6. Need any help?

Yes, of course! Support the LST by using it (wallpapers, clock, converter). We also need help with developing and promoting the LST and it's applications. Read about some suggestions on how you can support the LST!
